London to Paris in 16 hours he said…
A journey starts not when you step out of the door but when the notion fires in your head. The task of riding to Paris from London in under 24 hours is a common goal for many cyclists, but to aim for 16 hours and to pick March as the time to make the attempt certainly steps the whole challenge up a notch. That’s why we’re attempting it – the adventure of it all is inspiring and exciting.
The bikes have generously been loaned to us from Parlee and we’ll be riding on a mixture of the ESX and Z series bikes, including a custom Z Zero with SRAM eTAP. Reynolds wheels have stepped up and loaned us wheels along with Lezyne lights, tools and bottles.
We’ve had some time to get used to the bikes now and the kit – Giro have supplied helmets and shoes.
We’ll have support from the Sommet Team car, with Sean Hardy of HARDY CC handing out bottles and snapping some pics as we go. We’ll be leaving London tonight at 19:30 and working to get into Paris for 1130 tomorrow – 16 hours including the ferry!
